Location: Our Head Office/ Central Reservations is in Midrand (Johannesburg area), with small strategic operational units in Pretoria & greater Durban. We network to be able to cover Cape Town.
Credentials: Member of SATSA (Southern African Tourism Services Association. www.satsa.com)
Areas of Expertise: The lore of Tour Operating, in depth knowledge of Southern Africa, Guest/ group needs identification, Movement networks.
Law: use of legal service providers, as prescribed by the industry.
Target Market: International travelers traveling to South(ern) Africa and/or Agents acting on their behalf.

2) Who: Proud South Africans, by Birth and by Nature

A professional team, humble by nature but arrogant and progressive by service ! A team, with both black and white members, that stems from a variety of backgrounds, aiming for ONE outcome: To be the Leaders in our field, in both Expertise and Service.

The Team: In collaboration with our Black Empowerment and HDI initiative Service Providers, ‘SKY’, Operations and Marketing are handled by Gerhard de Jager (MD) and Steven Pitchers (Manager: Durban).

Areas of Expertise: A BA(Phys Ed) graduate and national Guide, Gerhard has a reputable 16 years in the Travel and Passenger Transport industry, having treaded his first careful steps as Luxury coach driver. In the last 14 years, he has built CHOICE TOURS Passenger into a proud, ambitious concern, never losing touch with the road and refusing to give up the precious opportunities to lead a tour. Steven, the adventurous youngster, is the gentleman with the ethics, charm, enthusiasm, free spirit and deceptively innocent demeanor.

Principals: Responsible, sustainable tourism, supporting indiginous groups from all backgrounds and sound business principals.

3) Where: Countrywide

From head Office and the Pretoria office, Choice Tours design and deploy itineraries for travel country wide and to neighbour countries. Our centres in Pretoria and Durban operates fleets of vehicles and ensure quality control. The latter in other major centres, like Cape Town, is done by reliable agents.

Areas / Locations: Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban
Trends: Our passengers have predominantly been coming from the UK and Singapore. Emerging markets are Australia and the USA.

4) When: Since 1994

CHOICE TOURS has a proud record of 12 successful years, having had the nerve, drive and optimism to commence business only a month before the election of the great Nelson Mandela, iconic first President of the New South African Democracy in 1994. CHOICE TOURS has since gone from strength to strength.

History: A humble concern in 1994, we took our first uncertain steps as Tourist Transporters. We soon, in order to compliment the vehicle side of things, started to take on the roll of handling agents, facilitating inbound tour groups from start to finish. While remaining a small player in the market, we've managed to grow in stature and can with confidence call ourselves full blood Tour Operators today.
Safety record: Without a single accident/ incident in the 12 years of operation.

5) Why: The people of the world is our market !

Our Consultants, Drivers and Driver- guides (these guys and gals are personalities; please call them by name !) itch, upon as little as mention, Wheels rolling across city and countryside, touring, telling, helping, uphill, downhill, taking anything from 3 to 44 seaters gently through hills, valleys and plains. Planes are the best things since pineapple on a stick. We're walking, talking junkies of South and Southern African routes, landmarks and roads !

In the role of Tour wholesaler, we carefully select reputable Service Providers who comply with the requirements that the industry prescribes. When utilising our own infrastructure, management do regular quality control exercises.

Safety: Choice Tours attempts to use vehicles with seat belts, religious service intervals, yearly Certificates of Fitness and Driver scrutiny and training.
Support: networks 12 years of problem solving provides support like a spider's web.
Trends: Tourism seems to be more focused, i.e. travelers seem to have their Specific Interest in mind when choosing to spend money on a trip. Adventure Travel has experienced an increase in popularity lately.
Obstacle: Frequency and price of flights into SA (improving), Legislation regarding the use of Driver- guides on vehicles carrying more than 10 passengers, strong rand forcing decline in group numbers.
